SER, Meridians and Yin Organs is an on demand professional study group for CranioSacral Therapists and students trained through the Upledger Institute International.

This study group explores the integration of traditional Chinese meridian theory—especially the six primary Yin organ channels—into CranioSacral Therapy practice. Framed through Dr. Upledger’s pioneering curiosity about energy systems, this program bridges classical acupuncture concepts with hands-on CST assessment and SomatoEmotional Release (SER) processes.

The program is facilitated by Suzanne Scurlock, CST-D, a senior instructor with more than 40 years of experience teaching CranioSacral Therapy. Participants receive lifetime access to professionally recorded lectures, demonstrations, and clinical Q&A.

Prerequisite: SER 1

Investment: Only $99

Detailed Overview

Meridian Flow Meets CranioSacral Listening

In this study group, you will explore:

  • The six Yin organ meridians: Liver, Kidney, Spleen, Lung, Heart, and Pericardium

  • How meridian disruptions may show up as emotional repetition, depletion, decision-making challenges, anger, depression, and post-surgical “breaks” in energetic flow

  • How to differentiate meridian flow energetics such as: depletion, stagnation, blockages, and energy cyst impacts on meridians

  • The importance of restoring reserves before beginning the SomatoEmotional Release process

  • How intention, direction of energy, and cold laser support can enhance integration

What This Study Group Explores

This immersive study group guides practitioners in:

  • Palpating meridian qualities through a CST-informed lens

  • Understanding the emotional correspondences of each of the Yin organs

  • Recognizing seasonal influences (such as the Wood element and Liver activation in spring)

  • Identifying surgical scar disruptions along meridian pathways

  • Reconnecting “broken” meridian flow through intention and neutral presence

  • Distinguishing between healthy outrage and reactive rage in the Liver system

  • Prioritizing Kidney replenishment when systems are depleted

Through live demonstration and case-based teaching, participants learn how meridian work does not replace CST—but deepens it.

Learning Outcomes

By participating in this study group, practitioners will:

  • Refine their ability to palpate and differentiate energetic qualities within organ systems

  • Recognize when depletion must be treated before emotional release

  • Restore meridian continuity disrupted by trauma or surgery

  • Support Kidney reserves for health and wellbeing

  • Strengthen practitioner boundaries to prevent energetic transference

Why This Matters in Practice

When a client’s energy is depleted, emotional processing may stall or become overwhelming.

  • Depleted Kidney energy can prevent effective SER

  • Emotional release without adequate reserves may not integrate well

  • Treating depletion first improves efficiency and outcomes

When meridian flow is disrupted, patterns may repeat despite prior work.

  • Chronic anger, indecision, or depression may reflect Liver imbalance

  • Surgical scars may interrupt energetic meridian continuity

  • Reconnecting flow may resolve long-standing relational or emotional loops
